with ex reds legend Jan Molby (Pictured right)
Hailed by his former Liverpool manager and team-mate Kenny Dalglish as “one of the finest midfield players of his generation” the great Dane was a contemporary in the celebrated Ajax youth academy, with Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard and Jesper Olsen. He also came under the influence of Dutch master Johann Cruyff. Molby was signed by Liverpool boss Joe Fagan for £225,000 in
August 1984, following the departure of Graeme Souness. The fee was a bargain for one of the most successful of English football’s foreign imports, who combined subtlety and power. Molby’s passing, long or short, was wonderfully measured.
He was also an expert penalty taker, scoring 42 spot kicks, and in November 1986 earned a niche in the record books with a penalty hat trick against Coventry in the League Cup.
Molby made 52 appearances in Liverpool’s League and FA Cup double season of 1985/86 before playing for Denmark in the World Cup Finals in Mexico. He won a second title medal in 1990 and another F A Cup medal in 1992. Although twice on the verge of moves (to Barcelona and Everton) he became the first foreigner to serve 10 years with one English club before becoming Swansea player boss in 1996.
Molby follows former Red’s legends Ronnie Whelan, Alan Kennedy, Phil Neal & David Fairclough to talk exclusively to our Members and their guests.

During the night we will be hearing form the many voices
of Darren Farley (Pictured right) , who can forget how he
jumped to fame with his impressions of “Rafa”, “Carra”,
“Stevie G”, Xabi Alonso, Michael Owen and Peter Crouch !
We are also hoping that Les Lawson (Chairman) of the Official Merseyside Branch will be able to attend and discuss matters with our members !
Forms will be sent to our members within the next week, the price will be £5 for members (refundable on the night) and £5 for guests which is non refundable. (each member is allowed to bring ONE guest only). There will be the usual buffet, bar, raffle and autograph opportunities
Members and guests must be over 16 years of age, no tickets will be issued, your name will be placed on to a list, only those who’s name are on the list will be admitted on the night.

NOTES FROM THE CHAIR
Some of you will recall there was an AIB meeting at Anfield prior to the recent Hull City match, to be honest we have received the minutes of the meeting and really there wasn’t an awful lot to come out of it other than what we had previously made our members aware of, this was probably due to the fact that it was made up of branches that hadn’t attended any of the previous two meetings.
The subject of our ticket allocation is never far away from our member’s minds and the subject of great discussion. If you look at where our club stands from the statistics last season, our percentage of tickets received is less than 2% down on last season to date, but more importantly, the amount of good tickets is up over 20%, whilst the amount of restricted tickets and severely restricted tickets are down 15% & 6% respectively.
So to date we are actually better off in terms of tickets received for the first half of the season compared to the whole of last year, it does go to show that the restricted & severely restricted tickets appear to be evenly spread out between supporters clubs . It will be interesting to see how the second half of the season compares to the first.
In next month’s issue we should have the final details for our January function, until then take care. YNWA –
Kevin
